Our BlueSky Team
Meet Steve, BlueSky Mentor.
Mentoring focus: Confidence building, communication, emotional wellbeing and independence
Approach: Calm, relationship-based mentoring that supports positive steps towards independence and future pathways
Hi, I’m Steve,
I am a compassionate and dedicated mentor who is passionate about helping young people build confidence, develop independence and move forward in their lives. I focus on building trusting relationships and creating a calm, supportive environment where young people feel understood and valued.
Through mentoring, I help young people strengthen communication, self-belief and everyday life skills, supporting them to make positive progress towards greater independence, education, training or work. I believe in encouraging resilience, recognising effort and helping young people take pride in the progress they make.
Before becoming a mentor, I served 31 years in the Royal Air Force, developing strong leadership, communication and problem-solving skills. I later worked in Social Prescribing and Health & Wellbeing, supporting individuals and families to improve wellbeing and access support within their communities.
During my service I was honoured to receive the British Empire Medal, the Kosovo War Medal, and the Meritorious Service Medal.
Steve holds Safeguarding Level 4 training, Autism Awareness and OCD awareness training, and has experience supporting young people with Special Educational Needs (SEN).
